Larry Wellikson: Talks about SHM’s Fellow Designation
On May 16 2009, the inaugural class of 514 Fellows was inducted at
Hospital Medicine 2009 in Chicago, IL. This inaugural group included
well-known pioneers of our specialty and is seen throughout the health
care community as including those hospitalists most committed to
hospital medicine and improving quality in their institutions.
This microsite is your glimpse of how you can join the likes of Mark
Williams, John Nelson, Win Whitcomb and others inducted in this first
class. SHM’s Fellows program is rooted in the Society’s Core
Competencies in Hospital Medicine and those who earn the FHM, SFHM, or
MHM designations will have demonstrated a commitment to hospital
medicine, system change and quality improvement principles.
Being a part of the Fellow in Hospital Medicine Program will allow
you the opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to Hospital Medicine
and provide you with access to a host of benefits not available to
SHM’s general membership or the specialty as a whole.
We expect that Fellows will include their respective designations
right after their MD on all their correspondence to let the world know
they have achieved this status.
