Practice Management
Resource Center
Welcome to the Practice Management Resource Center, a service of
the
Society of Hospital Medicine’s Practice Management Institute.
Hospital
Medicine presents unique practice management challenges, different
from
those in other physician specialties.
The Practice Management Institute is committed to bringing you a
range of resources – educational courses and webinars, surveys,
publications, reference material and professional networking
opportunities – to help you operate your group more effectively.
This Resource Center is a work in progress, and we would love to
hear
from you about both the quality and usefulness of the information
available here, and about what other resources we could provide to
help
you and your practice be more successful. Contact us at pminstitute@hospitalmedicine.org
with your comments and suggestions.

Principles of Hospitalist Staffing and
Scheduling
A Collaborative Webinar from SHM &
MGMA
The need to provide 24 hour coverage 7 days a week, while at the
same
time ensuring reasonable continuity between hospital to patient, and
reasonable physician lifestyle, presents many challenges. In this
session the presenters will review data regarding current
hospitalist
staffing ratios and workloads, as well as trends in scheduling.
In
addition, you will hear thought provoking alternatives to common
hospitalist scheduling paradigms. Case studies will also be
presented. SHM members receive special discount.
