2010 Hospital Medicine Survey

Part of MGMA's Physician Compensation and Production Survey

On January 18, an invitation to participate in the 2010 Hospital Medicine Survey was sent to all hospital medicine group leaders and practice administrators via email. This is the first year of the joint effort from SHM and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), to produce the most in-depth and comprehensive survey of hospital medicine in the country.
The survey for hospitalist practices consists of the following components:

• MGMA Physician Compensation & Production Survey – Physician Compensation & Production Matrix Section
• MGMA Physician Compensation & Production Survey – Management Compensation Matrix Section
• SHM and MGMA Supplemental Hospital Medicine Questionnaire
  

To participate in the survey, please visit www6.mgma.com. This survey requires responses at the group level, not by individual hospitalists. To avoid duplication, only practice physician leaders and/or administrators should participate and provide complete information for their entire group.

This survey is only available online.

SHM and MGMA held a free instructional webinar on January 27 which specifically addressed MGMA’s standard Physician Compensation and Production Survey tool to hospitalist leaders who have not participated in an MGMA survey before.  The webinar helped participants understand how to access the online survey instrument and to anticipate what information they will need to collect in order to participate effectively.  The session also introduced the hospitalist-specific survey supplement and provided information about who should complete this portion of the survey and what information will be needed.  A detailed tutorial walked participants through the online survey instrument.
