Carol Pohlig, BSN, RN, CPC, ACS
Carol Pohlig is a Registered Nurse who is employed as Senior Coding and Education Specialist in the Office of Clinical Documentation for the Department of Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She works closely with physicians, non-physician providers, and their staff to educate them in current documentation and reimbursement guidelines. Ms. Pohlig is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and has obtained her Advanced Coding Specialty (ACS) certification in several areas through the Board of Medical Specialty Coding (BMSC).
Ms. Pohlig served as an officer for the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders for 10 years and continues to remain involved. Ms. Pohlig also promotes coding education on a national level as an independent coding and compliance consultant and a frequent speaker for conferences/teleconferences hosted by Decision Health and The Coding Institute. She has written articles for several coding publications, as well as the American Thoracic Society and currently serves as the Consulting Editor for Pulmonology Coding Alert. Ms. Pohlig is on the National Advisory Board and several Specialty Advisory Boards for the Board of Advanced Medical Coders.
