Critical Care Medicine for the Hospitalist

Course Overview

Experts in the fields of critical care and hospital medicine will provide state-of- the-art evidence-based strategies for managing critically-ill hospitalized patients through a series of interactive lectures and panel discussions.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe updates in mechanical ventilation and the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of ventilator-associated pneumonia
  • Discuss sedation, analgesia, and treatment of delirium
  • Discuss the most important updates from the recent medical literature in the areas of sepsis management, acute renal failure, neural critical care, and cardiac arrest

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM). The ACP is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing education for physicians.

The American College of Physicians designates the educational activity for a maximum number for each course of category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician Recognition Award as follows: Critical Care for 7.5 credits. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in each educational activity.
