Leslie A. Flores, MHA
Leslie A. Flores is an experienced healthcare executive and consultant with a wealth of experience in the healthcare industry. Graduating from the University of California, Irvine with a BS degree in biological sciences, Ms. Flores obtained her Master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Flores has held a variety of executive-level positions in southern California hospitals, where she has been responsible for clinical and support departments as well as for staff functions in strategic planning and business development, managed care, community benefit planning, and physician recruitment and practice development. Since 1999 Ms. Flores has provided management consulting, training and coaching services for hospitals, physician groups, and other healthcare organizations. She currently serves as a partner with John Nelson, MD in Nelson Flores Hospital Medicine Consultants (www.nelsonflores.com), a consulting practice that specializes in helping its clients build successful new hospital medicine programs and enhance the effectiveness and value of existing programs.
Ms. Flores is active in the Society of Hospital Medicine and serves part time as the director of its Practice Management Institute. In this role, she coordinates SHM’s practice management education, resources and initiatives. She works with the Administrators’ Task Force, as well as the Practice Analysis Committee, which oversees the Society’s biannual compensation and productivity survey. She served as coordinating writer for the Practice Analysis Committee’s recent white paper, “Measuring Hospitalist Performance: Metrics, Reports and Dashboards,” and serves as course director for SHM’s coding and documentation course.
