Scott Manaker, MD, PhD

Scott Manaker is an actively practicing pulmonary and critical care physician at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia.  An Associate Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology, Dr. Manaker also serves as the Director of Clinical Documentation and as the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs of the Department of Medicine.

Dr. Manaker currently represents the American College of Chest Physicians on the American Medical Association (AMA) Relative Value Update Committee (RUC).  In the past, he also represented the American Thoracic Society as a Specialty Advisor to the AMA CPT Committee, and the American College of Physicians (ACP) on the AMA Practice Expense Advisory Committee (PEAC).  Dr. Manaker is an active member of the Carrier Advisory Committee to HGS Administrators, the Pennsylvania Medicare carrier.  He frequently lectures across the Unites States on documentation and reimbursement topics including the teaching physician regulations, critical care professional services, consultation policies, basic Evaluation and Management coding, effective use of documentation templates, and integration of nurse practitioners into physician practices.
