Stakeholders & Approval
Clarify key stakeholders, reporting hierarchy, and approval process
Your medical center has stakeholders who must be made aware of your efforts. These stakeholders are often individuals, but they are also committees, services, training programs, hospital initiatives, or departments. The awareness, even the overt “buy-in,” of these groups will be important to boost early adoption of your interventions. They may also offer legal protection for information you uncover and advance your educational efforts. Now is the time also to clarify the progress report structure for what you will do and the approval processes for what you may need. Typically, these groups will include:
- Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee
- Nursing groups
- Orthopedics / Surgery / Trauma leaders
- Patient Safety committee
- OR or Perioperative Committees
- Chief residents and / or residency program directors
- Departmental committees
