NEW: Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) Junior Investigator Award for HM15

Seize this new opportunity to gain recognition for your research in front of a national audience.

If you are a junior hospitalist investigator in the first five years of a faculty position, you may self-nominate for the SHM Junior Investigator Award, to be presented at HM15, March 29-April 1, in National Harbor, Maryland.

The SHM Research Committee has created this award to inspire early-stage investigators to think about how their work relates to hospital medicine, and to engage with SHM. Qualified applicants should be talented clinician-investigators whose work focuses on issues central to hospitalists and hospitalized patients.

To enter, qualified applicants (in the first five years of a faculty position) should self-nominate and submit the following:

  • A letter of support from the department chair or supervisor highlighting the applicant’s accomplishments and contributions to research. The person submitting the letter must be a member of SHM.
  • Biosketch
  • A one-page description of aims and aspirations: area of research and the anticipated impact on hospital medicine, as well as career milestones (grants, publications, etc.). Priority will be given to applicants with demonstrated leadership and engagement in SHM and non-SHM committees with the potential to impact research.

The winner will receive the award at HM15 and enjoy complimentary registration to the main meeting (excluding Pre-Courses), as well as a one-year SHM membership. Apply by email no later than November 15, 2014, to Brittany Montimore. Please use the subject line “HM15 Junior Investigator Award” and combine the required elements into one PDF attachment, if possible.
