Certificate of Leadership in Hospital Medicine

Required Project

Leadership projects are designed to allow participants to apply skills obtained through coursework (e.g., at the Leadership Academies) to specific hospital medicine challenges. This project proposal template is designed to help the candidate plan a project with sufficient detail to gain approval by the Faculty Review Committee and to help maximize the success of carrying out the project itself.
Proposals should be prepared within all guidelines and outlines provided. Candidates should review all documents prior to submission to ensure they reflect mastery of the written communication skills expected of leaders within hospital medicine.
Note: Candidates must submit a Project Proposal within ninety (90) days of registering to pursue the Leadership Certificate. If a proposal has not been received at the end of that period, a full refund will be automatically issued less a $300 administration fee.

Project Categories

Participants may consider undertaking leadership projects from the following categories:

  • Quality (e.g., DVT prevention)
  • Service (e.g., Create a new line of clinical services)
  • People (e.g., Develop a physician retention program)
  • Operations (e.g., Develop a coding and documentation management program, or a risk management program)
  • Financial (e.g., Resource utilization)
  • Training & Education (e.g., Develop/implement new resident curriculum)
  • Design your own integrated project (requires approval)
