Pedi-BOOST Implementation Guide

The Pedi-BOOST Implementation Guide is designed to facilitate the implementation, evaluation and maintenance of the Pedi-BOOST Toolkit, adapted from the Society of Hospital Medicine’s (SHM’s) Project BOOST® program for pediatric use by the University of California (UC) Integrating Patient Care and Health Professions Education to Improve Care Transitions: The UC Healthcare Quality Improvement Networks.

Each institution is unique in terms of its experience conducting quality improvement programs, availability of resources and existing discharge procedures and process. This Guide acknowledges that participants will have differing experiences in interdisciplinary quality improvement. Therefore, the Toolkit has been designed to allow site leaders to follow a clear linear path through the content, or skip around to meet the needs of local participants. Pedi-BOOST focuses primarily on pediatric-specific needs, and thus a number of elements related to quality improvement basics are not included in this Guide. For more information, please refer to the SHM BOOST® website for basic QI information and tools.
