Instrument used to test executive functioning when there is a clinical suspicion of cognitive impairment or a screening test (e.g.- inability to recall three items after one minute) is positive.

Clock drawing test is easy and quick to administer (<5minutes).  When clock drawing test is combined with a three item recall test, together is termed the Mini-Cog.)  Performance in diverse populations is comparable to MMSE.

May not be useful in patients with visual impairment or difficulty holding a writing implement.  Tests only executive functioning.
