I joined SHM back before it was SHM in 1999! I knew I had found my professional home. I remain involved with SHM because the organization has continued to represent, educate, and advocate for hosptialists.

icons8-chat-100.png I joined SHM because I was looking for my professional home, which I can say with certainty that I found!  As a practicing hospitalist for the last 7 years, I wanted to be in the company of like-minded physicians who were having similar experiences as myself. At SHM, we exchange ideas and support each other as we improve our field together!  To me, SHM isn’t just a Society, it’s a family!

icons8-chat-100.png I have been associated with SHM since the first hospital medicine meeting back in 1997. I remain engaged within SHM because 24 years down the road we are still educating, creating, exploring uncharted territories, and connecting individuals, communities, networks, systems, disciplines, etc. That dynamic and the culture prevalent throughout the organization is what keeps me so engaged and why I call SHM my professional home.

icons8-chat-100.png The Society of Hospital Medicine has provided the means for me to connect easily with my peers within the world of Family Medicine-trained hospitalists, as well as to the Hospitalist community more broadly. One of the greatest things about SHM is the ways in which the Society intentionally promotes physician development in leadership and ongoing education and continually evolves to improve in these areas.
