SHM Special Interest Groups

Connect with other members who share your interests.

Overview

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are designed to create communities of hospitalists around topics of interest, practice areas and/or care models. Joining a special interest group allows you to collaborate, share experiences with your peers and have meaningful discussions that can directly impact your practice.

Join a SIG

Special Interest Groups are an exclusive member benefit. SHM members can participate in as many groups as they wish.

To join a Special Interest Group, please log in to the Hospital Medicine Exchange Platform (HMX), view the full SIG listing page, and select the “Click Here to Join a SIG Community Button.” You will then be re-routed to the SHM Store, where you will add the SIG to your cart and complete the check-out process (joining a SIG is free for SHM members). For a complete walk-through of how to join a SIG, please visit the HMX FAQ page.

Start a SIG

Wish there were a group on a particular topic? Apply to start a SIG.

Active SHM members are eligible to submit an application to start a Special Interest Group (SIG). SHM accepts SIG applications on a continual basis, however the application review process takes places on a quarterly basis. Applicants will be contacted once an application has been summited with acknowledgement of receipt and an estimated timeline on a decision.

To submit an application, please download and complete the Application for Establishment.

Once completed, the application can then be submitted by emailing it to sigs@shm.org.
