Year I started at SHM: 2016
My role at SHM: I have worked in the Hospital Medicine field for greater than 17 years for several of the larger hospitalist management companies (we have had quite a bit of consolidation in our industry!). My roles have included Operations, Strategic Account Management and developing and implementing Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) programs on a national scale. Coming to SHM in 2016, was like “coming home.” I am passionate about the field of Hospital Medicine and have seen first-hand how our profession has grown and evolved in such a relatively short time frame. I hold an MBA, BSc, a Green Belt in Six Sigma and am an Occupational Therapist.
What I like most about my job: Having been involved with SHM as a member for more than 17 years (I believe there were about 40 people at the first meeting I attended when we were a part of ABIM), I feel one of the values I provide is helping to “connect the dots” – understanding our members’ needs and then identifying products and/or services that SHM could develop to enhance our member experience. The SHM staff is tireless in their energy and their capabilities. The fast-paced, high energy and caring culture all combine to make SHM a terrific place to work.
Fun fact: With my grandsons, daughter and son-in-law, we raised 5 baby chicks, and now we have hens who provide our family with about 3 eggs per day! Lulu, Suzie, Beyoncé, Aretha and “Tina Turner 2” (Tina Turner 1 didn’t survive her first 24 hours!) are now treasured members of our pet family.
