The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) is a medical society comprised of hospitalists that exists to promote exceptional care for hospitalized patients.

Legislative Advocacy: At numerous points throughout the legislative process, SHM and its members weigh in on policy considerations and lend support for initiatives that seek to improve the coordination and efficiency of the healthcare system.
Regulatory Advocacy: SHM works closely with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other federal agencies as they implement programs and initiatives authorized by law. SHM provides comments on proposed regulations, requests for information and other agency activities to ensure the voices of hospitalists and their patients are considered throughout the process.
SHM provides a Legislative Action Center where you can engage with policy issues facing hospital medicine professionals and reach out to your members of Congress quickly and easily.
