Clinical Duties:

Clinical rotations account for approximately 60% of the total weeks during fellowship. In addition to core rotations in hospital medicine, newborn, complex care, co-management, and sedation, individualized rotations in intensive care, emergency medicine, palliative care, surgery, child abuse and neglect, and pain management are available. All rotations are structured to permit independent medical decision-making with graduated autonomy.

Research Training:

Fellows spend non-clinical time in a mentored research project with the goal of national presentation or peer-reviewed publication. Akron Children’s Rebecca D. Considine Research Institute provides assistance with study design, statistical analysis and manuscript preparation. Fellows also actively participate in ongoing quality improvement projects as well as educational initiatives within the division of Hospital Medicine.
