SHM Sends Letter to the Federation of State Medical Boards Regarding Mental Health Disclosures and State Licensure

SHM urges the FSMB to encourage its member boards to revisit mental health disclosure policies for state licensure and prioritize advocacy efforts with state legislatures. Eliminating mental health disclosure requirements or contextualizing these disclosures as they pertain to actual impairments will help foster a healthier and more supportive profession, particularly in these extraordinarily trying times.

SHM Supports the Coronavirus Health Care Worker Wellness Act

SHM supports the Coronavirus Health Care Worker Wellness Act (H.R. 7255). This bipartisan legislation will issue grants to support the mental health and wellness of frontline healthcare workers. Additionally, this bill will provide grant funding to research related to provider wellbeing and mental health during COVID-19.

SHM Signs on Letter in Support of the Coronavirus Provider Protection Act

SHM, alongside dozens of other medical speciality societies, has signed a letter in support of the Coronavirus Provider Protection Act. This legislation will provide targeted and limited liability protection to providers where health care services are provided or withheld in situations that may be beyond the control of physicians or facilities.
