Thank you for your interest in starting a new Special Interest Group (SIG). SHM reviews applications for new SIGs annually from June 1 through September 30. Decisions are made on a rolling basis, no later than November 1. Please check back when the application period opens again and contact us at sigs@shm.org with any questions.
SHM reviews each SIG on an annual basis to ensure it is meeting baseline requirements to maintain full SIG status. This is a concerted effort to ensure that all SHM members can be confident SIGs are providing meaningful networking, engagement, leadership, and education/learning opportunities, and that they are receiving a high-quality experience, worthy of their limited time.
To help SIGs and volunteer leaders maintain their SIGs, SHM has developed a SIG Handbook.
SIGs that do not meet the baseline criteria set forth will be sunset. SHM invites any member interested to apply for re-establishment of a SIG by completing an application and petition here above.
