The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) is a medical society comprised of hospitalists that exists to promote exceptional care for hospitalized patients.
The Advisory Board Company’s Physician Executive Council developed this Hospitalist Program Gap Assessment Tool to help hospitalist program leaders identify and prioritize opportunities to improve their programs and recognize the proper resources required to achieve this goal.
The assessment is based on the Society of Hospital Medicine’s Key Principles and Characteristics of an Effective Hospital Medicine Group and allows leadership to compare their hospitalist program across the 10 principles of effective hospitalist programs. By completing the tool, the leaders are provided a summary level review of hospitalist program performance on each of the 10 principles to help prioritize areas for improvement.
