The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) is a medical society comprised of hospitalists that exists to promote exceptional care for hospitalized patients.
In the last few years, the Canadian Society of Hospital Medicine (CSHM) has been supported by the expertise and assistance of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), headquartered in the United States.
SHM is a large organization with international reach, rooted in more than 20 years of experience serving hospital medicine professionals and those who support them.
Leaders from both organizations have had multiple discussions at the local, national and provincial levels and have agreed that merging both organizations would provide a solid path forward to advocate for and support those providing care for hospitalized patients in Canada.
The Canadian society will now be the Canadian International Chapter of SHM. The current CSHM executive board will now be the executive board of the chapter.
CSHM members who have had paid membership in the last year will be offered a free one-year SHM membership from the fall of 2019 to the fall of 2020 (a 445 U.S. dollar value), providing them with:
