We are committed to delivering the top-quality services and products our members have come to expect and also committed to being transparent when assessing respective charges. Unfortunately, SHM is not immune to the increasing costs of technology, personnel, and other external charges that are beyond our control. To offset some of these increasing costs, some of the memberships below now come with a small service charge. Thank you for your support.

Get Your Work Published
SHM is home to a respected portfolio of publications that aims to inform all members of the hospital medicine team in a variety of article types and styles. Learn more about how you can submit your work for consideration.
Join a SIG Executive Council
SHM’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are virtual networking communities that allow members to connect with peers who share practice interests and/or type. Each SIG Executive Council (EC) self-determines the exact process for joining the group’s leadership team. Members interested in joining a SIG’s EC are encouraged to contact a SIG’s EC leadership directly via HMX and/or reach out to SIG program staff at sigs@shm.org.
Chapter Elections
Make an impact at SHM by volunteering for your local chapter. Nominations for chapter leadership positions are open. Each chapter has a minimum of three leadership positions with set terms and job descriptions. Every dues-paying member is eligible to nominate colleagues or self-nominate for a chapter leadership position. Present Your Work at SHM Converge
Let your voice be heard at SHM Converge! The submission site for SHM’s Scientific Abstract Competition (Research, Innovations, and Vignettes) is now closed. It will open in late summer 2025. If selected, your abstract will be eligible for presentation at SHM Converge, on March 29-April 1, 2026 in Nashville, TN.SHM is more than a society, it’s your professional family.
