The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) is a medical society comprised of hospitalists that exists to promote exceptional care for hospitalized patients.
SHM Chapters are seeking nominations for dedicated members to become Chapter Leaders.
Chapter Leaders are responsible for working with SHM staff to:
Chapter Leaders are responsible for working within their Chapter Leadership Team to ensure the chapter’s goals to engage the membership are met. Responsibilities of the entire Chapter Leadership include planning a minimum of two meetings each calendar year.
Chapters are supported by the SHM National Office located in Philadelphia, PA, and mentored by the SHM District Chair. Chapter Leaders meet on a quarterly basis with staff, the District Chair, and other leaders within the District.
Each Chapter Leadership is comprised of a minimum of three active SHM members who work together to carry out the SHM mission to your local members.
By joining a Chapter Leadership, you are expanding your network not only to those in your community but also to others across the country.
Every dues-paying member is eligible to nominate colleagues or self-nominate for a chapter leadership position.
Position terms for all chapters begin and end in correspondence with SHM’s annual conference, Converge. The next term will begin on March 30, 2027. Chapter Leaders are strongly encouraged (but not required) to attend the in-person Chapter Leader Training at Converge on March 30th in Las Vegas, NV. A virtual onboarding call will also be held.
