The Junior Investigator Award was created for junior/early stage investigators, defined as faculty in the first five years of their most recent position/appointment. Applicants must be hospitalist or clinician-investigators whose research interests focus on the care of hospitalized patients, organization of hospitals or the practice of hospitalists.
Applicants must be members of SHM in good-standing. Nominations from mentors or self-nominations are both welcomed.

Priority will be given to applicants with demonstrated leadership and engagement in SHM committees with the greatest potential to impact the field of hospital medicine. The winner will be invited to receive the award during SHM’s annual Hospital Medicine meeting and will receive complimentary meeting registration for this meeting.
